Provo Utah YSA 19th Stake Goals

Purpose
Invite all young single adults within the boundaries of our stake to come unto Christ (Moroni 10:32-33) and be converted unto Him (Alma 23:6-7,13) so that they can regularly experience the effects of the Atonement in their life (Mosiah 4:2-3, 5:2, 7).

Measurement

  1. The feelings of members of the stake presidency as we interview and participate in meetings.
  2. Sacrament meeting attendance
  3. Percent of members with a current temple recommend (limited or full use)
Method
  1. Teach by the power of the Spirit the doctrine of Christ (2 Nephi 31; 3 Nephi 11:31-41; 27:13-21) and help stake members experience the joys of:
    1. Faith in Jesus Christ
    2. Repentance
    3. Making, keeping, and renewing covenants
    4. Receiving the Holy Ghost
    5. Enduring to the end
  2. Encourage active participation in Institute, Family History, and other sponsored activities where they can develop friendships with and serve others who are striving to come unto Christ.
  3. Repeatedly encourage private religious behaviors:
    1. Study the scriptures daily, especially the Book of Mormon
    2. Kneel in prayer morning and night
    3. Be worthy of, hold, and regularly use a current temple recommend
    4. Follow the prophet by adhering to the standards in For the Strenght of Youth
    5. Act, and not be acted upon (see 2 Nephi 2:26)
Desired Result
We believe this effort will foster real growth in the lives of the young single adults of the Provo YSA 19th Stake.

July 24 5K & Fun Run - Volunteers Needed

This is an important message from Sister Kelli Herlevi of the Mapleton 18th Ward:

"I need help with the 24th 5k and fun run.  I need helpers to pass out race packets on the 23rd at the City Building from 3 to 7.  They don't need to stay for the full 4 hours.  I just need to make sure they don't all come at 6:30.  Maybe 2-3 each hour.
Also, we need as many volunteers as possible for the morning of the 24th for the actual run.  The different opportunities would include:  Helping to set up the start/finish line.  Directing runners to the start line.  Registering the late runners.  Help set up the fruit/bread/water tables and pass those out as the runners finish.  Clean up after the race.  We need volunteers at 6 am on the 24th.  As many volunteers as possible.  It sounds like they have had a lot of fun in the past.  It's early in the morning, but it's a lot of fun and doesn't really take too long.  Everyone will have plenty of time to participate in all of the other holiday activities--or go home and go back to sleep!!"

Please email sarahaverett@gmail.com if you can help.  Thanks!
